Peter Weigand and Lukasz Lendzinski have called their architectural studio “unschichten” since 2008, a German word that reflects their building principle of “shifting layers”. As practice and research architects, they discover and collect materials not previously considered as building materials, stacking and re-layering them into unusual structures. By design, everything they build can always be dismantled and all the used materials can be returned. So they prefer joints that are immediately detachable, which translates into a concise formula: A, (B), C = A. This encompasses the cycle of beginning (“Anfagen”), base camp (“Basislager”), culmination, and clearing up (“Aufräumen”)
