The architectural style with its rich use of brick emerged more than a hundred years ago and was intended to provide a better home for everyone, from workers in social housing to the wealthy. The use of brick is experiencing a renaissance in contemporary architecture, as described well in the book Brick - An Exacting Material by Jan Peter Wingender (Office Winhov).
