What is architecture? This question has long engaged figures from Mies van der Rohe to Boullée. This book arises from the author’s personal reflections on architectural practice, offering a series of thoughts on how to understand architecture and design. It does not attempt a complete or systematic theory; instead, it presents reflections shaped through teaching, remaining personal while open to shared understanding. Its central claim is that architectural history forms the foundation of architectural identity. From this basis, it explores the nature of design, how architecture is taught and learned, and what defines theory and research in the discipline for students and curious readers.
