Shadow and Light (l'ombra e la luce) describes and illustrates the realisation of a crematorium for the Leuven region, a project in collaboration with RCR arquitectes. The building was designed as a sarcophagus, based on Etruscan tuff tombs. Texts by Koen Van Synghel and photographs by Hisao Suzuki, Marie-Francoise Plissart and Harry Gruyaert describe and interpret the sacred space, the natural play of light, the reduced materiality and the integration of the building into the landscape. The book also includes a contribution by artist Philip Van Isacker on the site-specific integration of his work into the building.
