Han Westelaken’s buildings all evoke an association with music. They are compositions in brick, wood, glass and concrete, a spatial interplay between matter and light, in which the structural principals are comparable to those of composers: rhythms, measures, timbre, dynamics. And like music, these buildings evoke emotions, they are never created just ‘to be used’. This book displays six of his buildings.
