This book explores what happens when architects and designers are “in the making,” focusing on how their working methods address complex challenges and contribute to societal development. The approach is inclusive, drawing on diverse methods, disciplines, users, and contexts. It emphasizes a circular process of moving between ideas and material exploration, requiring continual shifts in focus to achieve clear design objectives. Featuring twelve articles by writers, researchers, and lecturers from Denmark and abroad, the book accompanies the Methods in Architecture and Design exhibition at the Royal Danish Academy (2024–2025). Topics include material language, drawing as a tool, context-driven design, topographic mapping, and experimental approaches to representation.
