This second volume brings together the most recent works of architect Tsuyoshi Tane, offering an in-depth look at his evolving practice. Featuring seventeen projects in total, it highlights Tane’s ongoing investigation into “archaeological thinking,” a design approach rooted in uncovering memory, place, and the deep layers of history that shape the built environment. Among the works included are major commissions currently underway, such as the New Main Building of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo and the Sensoji Temple Treasure Museum. The book traces Tane’s thinking and design process, revealing how each project emerges from extensive research - archival, material, cultural, and spatial. Through sketches, studies, and project narratives, it shows how ideas are patiently excavated and woven into architectural forms, offering a compelling insight into one of today’s most distinctive architectural methodologies.
