LB 14 Angelo Candalepas - The Castle

Located a block from Hyde Park in Sydney, Australia, is a 37-storey tower designed by Angelo Candalepas and completed in 2022. Besides a hotel, the building contains retail and residential functions. Its uppermost levels have stepped gardens. Known as The Castle, the building with its facade of apses and arches facing the city rises from a tall podium next to the historic Porter House, a 142-year-old heritage-protected building that served as inspiration for The Castle’s design. Angelo Candalepas Associates, founded in 1999 in Sydney, is recognised as one of the foremost practices in Australia today. This edition examines the tower and its many carefully conceived aspects.
