Shinkenchiku Special Issue - Weaving Time: The Legecy Designs of Takenaka Corporation

After the Meiji Restoration in 1868, the Takenaka Corporation engaged in projects involving early-modern Western-style architecture, refining its expertise in the period before World War II. This style came to be widely appreciated as a valuable historical asset expressing the history and culture of Japan. ‘Weaving Time’ focuses on projects Takenaka has completed since 2000 and presents its method for passing on historical architecture to future generations. It provides insights into how the architecture of our own time can be cherished and used for generations to come, expand the possibilities of design, create diverse values, and contribute to a sustainable society.
