New Smaland

This volume looks at issues of entrepreneurship, immigration, and emigration, offering various perspectives on the relationship between the rural and the urban. These three themes characterise both a common and a historical understanding of Småland, a historical province in southern Sweden. By posing questions and developing different approaches to creating a dialogue between international contemporary art and local knowledge, an updated image of the region can be formulated. The book presents a series of recent exhibitions, plus texts reflecting on the workshops, residences, conferences, and collaborations that have taken place in Småland over the last four years.
