‘Used Hardware’ explores architecture and time through photography, weaving together the work of Danish photographer Keld Helmer-Petersen (1920–2013) and Martin Ransby. Initiated by Ransby, the project reveals how time shapes architecture: Helmer-Petersen captures its original beauty and formal clarity, while Ransby uncovers poetry in decay, erosion, and nature’s gradual reclamation of built structures. The purpose of the book is not to compare the photographic quality of the pictures, but rather to juxtapose architectural spaces viewed from different perspectives and with different intentions – pointing to the subjective experience of a specific place.
