Cleveland-based designer Scheckengost, still working at age 94, is best known for his children's toys, such as bicycles and pedal cars. The exhibition for which the volume serves as a catalogue was held at the Cleveland Museum of Art, November 2000 through February 2001. The pieces illustrated include ceramics, metal sculpture, automobiles, and other work in addition to toys.
