According to Raimund Stecker, "architecture is to huts as Borsalino is to hats," and Zamp Kelp a "nomadic and singular utopian" and imaginative cofounder of Haus-Rucker-Co, a community of architects and artists. The group was formed in 1967, a year before the founding of the Club of Rome - in part to provide constructive answers to yet-to-be-formulated questions around the "limits of growth." In 1972, with their work "Oase Nr. 7" (Oasis No. 7), installed in Kassel as part of documenta 5, they demonstrated that art is not only capable of articulating critique, but can also propose achievable, i.e., concrete, utopias. In 2024, "Oase Nr. 7" was installed in the town hall of the city of Esch-sur-Alzette. This publication accompanies the fresh demonstration of the timeless concept of the oasis and uses found narratives to incorporate it into Zamp Kelp's world of "thought constructions."
