This book documents the transformation story of the René-Cassin school in Guécélard, France. Designed by Atelier Julien Boidot to adapt the existing site, the school also got a new building, courtyard, and entrance. Returning to simple forms and finding sustainable solutions, such as a biogas boiler, and overhanging roots for heat management and sun protection, it was awarded the Sarthe Architecture Prize in 2021. Starting with the current state of the school and going backwards in time to its original state, photographs, detailed sketches, models, and designs trace the trajectory of this project. Featuring photographs by Clément Guillaume and a text from Luc Baboulet.
