‘THE LINE’ documents the exploration of contemporary landscapes by walking along a straight line around the Earth. This volume explores a remote valley in the Vorarlberg region of the Austrian Alps. Besides photographs by Mary Dahlman Smith, Luis Hilti, and Drew Smith, it includes a conversation with Ingrid Sele, a resident of Nenzinger Himmel, which is the local name given to a collection of seasonal high-alpine settlements. ‘THE LINE’ is a project by the Institute for Linear Research, an independent research platform.
