Border Landscapes

Border-Land-Scapes explores how war, militarization and border closures reshape landscapes and everyday life. As borders increasingly take material form through fences, surveillance systems, barriers and military infrastructure, they transform territories, communities and perceptions of belonging. Contributions by architects, researchers and artists examine fortified borders, devastated ecosystems, protest sites and gated urban enclaves across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Bringing together perspectives from architecture, geopolitics and landscape studies, the book considers landscapes as active records of political decisions, collective anxieties and changing ideas of security. It offers a critical lens on the spatial consequences of conflict and an increasingly fragmented world.
