The Landscape as Union Between Art / Il paessaggio come unione tra arte e scienza

In 2019 the 250th anniversary of the birth of Alexander von Humboldt (1769–1859) and the 100th anniversary of the death of Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) offered the opportunity to reconsider their contribution to the natural sciences and to cosmopolitan vision, transdisciplinary approaches, and the discovery of interconnected systems. Their work attests to the value of joining together scientific, humanistic, and artistic thinking, a significant premise for landscape design. Framed and supported by their respective legacies, this book offers fresh approaches to a contemporary commitment to landscape design education as well as current teaching attitudes in environmental design.
