At a time when the museum is being reimagined as something more than a building organised around galleries or objects, the magazine presents twelve newly built museum projects. These include the Calder Gardens by Herzog & de Meuron, FENIX Museum of Migration by MAD Architects, the extension at Kunsthaus Zurich Museum by David Chipperfield Architects, Atelier Audemars Piguet Museum by BIG, and more. Some of these open towards the street, while others elevate the museum, freeing the ground for public use. It signals a broader shift in the role of the museum to something akin to a commons – a place for gathering as much as an edifice for the display of objects.
