€ 39,50

Jean Jacques Rousseau's Elementary Letters on Botany first appeared in Geneva in 1782 as part of Rousseau's Complete Works (vol. XIV) . A new edition was then published in Paris in 1805 that included the illustrations of Pierre-Joseph Redouté. Uniting in a single volume the botanical work of the great writer, Rousseau, with the art of the illustrious Redouté makes this edition a minor master piece.

Included in this volume are all of Redouté's original plates, reproduced thanks to the efforts of the Missouri Botanical Garden, and all of Rousseau's original texts including: the eight elementary letters on botany to Madame Delessert, the two letters to M. de Malesherbes, the fifteen letters to the Duchess of Portland, the nine letters to M. de la Tourette, the introduction and the complete Fragments for a dictionary of terms used in botany.
