Comprising words by Kenji Miyazawa, a Japanese poet and author of children’s literature who lived in the early 20th century, and drawings by contemporary illustrator Izumi Shiokawa, this small book is an enchanting world of its own. The drawings reflect Shiokawa’s own interpretations of the poetry they accompany, a mix of abstract and figural sketches which hint at mythologies and feelings, mysterious creatures, and pictures from which a story might emerge.
