The Fluid City stems from the author’s many years of experience as an urban developer and urban planner in Amsterdam and Chicago. The experience resulted in a reformulation of the spatial statement and the role of current environmental disciplines. This no longer concerns finding efficient and affordable solutions for a scarcity of space, but the necessity to provide the unbridled spatial production and accompanying abundance of spaces with meaning and legitimacy.
