Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects has been active in Copenhagen since its founding by this leading Danish modern architect in 1922. “Architecture is applied art for the people” was his own motto, and the office continues to work in the same spirit today. In every project they strive for site-specific design with a focus on creating environments for active people and urban lifestyles. Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects effectively helped create modern Copenhagen. One example is the airport, which bears the office’s hallmark through all its phases, from 1939 to the present. Notable among their projects are the Niels Bohr Building, Krøyer’s Square, and the new Danish Radio headquarters.
